Device clearance depends on the indication

BrainsWay systems have FDA clearances for selected uses including major depressive disorder, obsessive-compulsive disorder, and smoking addiction. Different indications involve specific coils, protocols, and patient criteria. A depression protocol is not automatically the protocol for another condition.

OCD and smoking research are separate from depression care

The older articles about these clearances are useful background, but they should not be read as a promise that the practice currently provides every cleared system or service. Ask the office which equipment and treatment protocols are available for your situation.

Keep three questions separate

What is supported by evidence? What is FDA-cleared for this device and protocol? What will my insurance cover? A positive answer to one does not establish the other two. Individual assessment and discussion of alternatives are needed.
